Found: the old engine's oil pump chain had snapped and seized the engine solid. With it out on the stand, the dual-mass flywheel was also heavily worn.
Done: replacement engine fitted, and a new clutch and flywheel kit while the access was there rather than paying for the same job twice.
Symptom: a higher-powered car burning oil out through the exhaust.
Checked: full compression test — perfect across the board — backed up with a cylinder leak-down test that came in under 10%.
Found: borescope down the cylinders showed a valve stem failure letting oil into the combustion chamber to burn. Fault pinned down before a single part was ordered.
